Nicotine Dependence and Addiction
The addictive ingredient in tobacco is nicotine. Levels of nicotine dependence, or addiction, vary among tobacco users. To find out your level of dependence on nicotine, take the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence. It’s also important to understand why you smoke or use tobacco. Learning why you smoke can teach you how to quit. Take this short quiz to find out why you use tobacco. (see attachment - Why Do You Smoke?”)
