Home Visits

Public Health Nurses make home visits to provide health education and assist families with health issues. Most home visits occur after doctor requests visits to assess the home environment and help educate parents about specific health issues.

Doctors will refer newborn infants or children needing additional support. The Department of Health and Welfare, Children and Family Services refers families with children who need additional information about the home environment. The nurse will assess the safety of the home and provide education about health topics.
