H1N1 Vaccination Clinic Updates

LEWISTON, IDAHO - Public Health - Idaho North Central District will offer H1N1 flu vaccine from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 for the following five target population groups as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Target Population Groups:

  • Pregnant women;
  • Household contacts and caregivers for children less than 6 months of age;
  • Children and young adults 6 months through 24 years of age;
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel;
  • Persons aged 25 through 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.

Please Note: If you do not fit within these criteria you will be asked to return to a later clinic.

Once we receive an adequate supply of vaccine and good coverage of the five target populations has been attained, we will make the vaccine more broadly available for everyone who wants to be vaccinated.  Public Health would like to thank you, in advance, for your patience and understanding as the limited amounts of vaccine are provided to those within the target populations as identified by the CDC.

Public Health is working with all schools within the Health District to provide vaccines to all school age children with parental consent. The process will begin with those less than 10 years of age. The first school clinic is scheduled for November 5th; schools will provide notification of their individual clinic dates. The school clinics will begin by providing vaccine for students less than 10 years of age because they will require two doses of vaccine. All school age children will be offered the vaccine when Public Health returns to the schools to provide the second dose for children less than 10 years of age. Please consider having your school age child vaccinated in the upcoming school clinics.

Weekly clinics will continue to be held each Wednesday, as permitted by vaccine availability and demand.
