What is the North Central Idaho Medical Reserve Corps?
The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) coordinates the skills of practicing and retired physicians, nurses, other health professionals, and support personnel who are willing to volunteer during local or national emergencies. Learn more about the National Medical Reserve Corps.
Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer Eligibility
Any person with an interest in helping their community can volunteer. Volunteers can be active or inactive/retired health care professionals or students in a health-related field. Non-health related volunteers are also needed to provide basic support services, such as record keeping, fundraising, communications, security, food services, and transportation.

Medical Reserve Volunteer Training
All volunteers are expected to attend a basic orientation in which the following topics are discussed:
- Preparedness planning in North Central Idaho
- An overview of the Strategic National Stockpile
- A basic orientation to the Incident Command System
Upon completion of the volunteer orientation volunteers will receive a certificate and a MRC badge to be used as identification if they are deployed.
In addition, Medical Reserve Corps volunteers are strongly encouraged to complete the following online FEMA training courses.
- IS-100.a (Introduction to Incident Command System)
- NIMS-700.a (National Incident Management System)
- IS-200.a (Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action)
