Let’s Move! Child Care (LMCC) is part of a National Let’s Move! initiative to prevent childhood obesity. LMCC encourages and supports child care and early education providers to make positive changes in their programs in order to work toward a healthier future for children. LMCC is voluntary and for all types of programs: family child care homes, centers, Early Head Start and Head Start programs, preschool, tribal programs and faith-based programs.
As a child care provider you are in a unique role to help prevent childhood obesity. Children spend many hours in early care and education programs, as well as family child care. Help kids build good habits by ensuring your program is a healthy environment for children to learn.
Let’s Move! Child Care encourages you to meet these best practice goals:
Providers who fully meet these best practices are rewarded with a certificate of completion and featured on a map of recognized providers.
Find out if you’re meeting LMCC’s best practice goals by visiting the LMCC Website and taking the checklist quiz.
If you’re interested in learning more about Let’s Move! Child Care, and how to meet the five best practice goals, come to a Let’s Move! Child Care Training.
This is a free, two full day, training for child care providers who are committed to healthy early care. As a child care provider, you will learn about how to incorporate healthy nutrition and physical activity into your child care program. You will also be ready to guide families and children in your care towards better health through healthy nutrition, increased physical activity, and limited screen time.
