About Food Protection

Foot Protection

Public Health – Idaho North Central District (PH-INCD) and the food industry share responsibility for ensuring that our food supply is safe. Environmental Health provides the following services to ensure a safe food supply:

  • Enforce the State of Idaho Rules Governing Food Safety and Sanitation Standards.
  • Permit and inspect all regulated food establishments.
  • Review plans for new and remodeled food establishments.
  • Conduct food management training classes.
  • Handle food complaints from the public, investigate complaints, and take corrective actions, if needed.

2026 SERVSAFE TRAINING CLASS

Training is in person only.
 
The ServSafe Class is Thursday, October 29th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lewiston office of Public Health-Idaho North Central District at 215 10th Street, Lewiston, ID 83501
Cost is $150 due at the time of registering, to register call 208-799-3100 or fill out the Registration Form and email to: [email protected], the deadline for registering is October 19th at noon. Exam retake fee is $45.

If you require special accommodations, including assistance in a different language, please let us know when registering. Please Note: All fees are non-refundable; however, if you are unable to attend, your payment can be applied to a future scheduled class.

CHANGES TO THE IDAHO FOOD CODE!

The State of Idaho has recently updated the Idaho Food Code, and the changes go into effect July 1, 2016. This link contains a document that summarizes the major changes between the new Idaho Food Code and the existing Idaho Food Code.
