Public Health – Idaho North Central District, as well as other local agencies and individuals in our five-county area, provide free tobacco cessation classes. These classes will help you design a personalized quit plan, give you information about nicotine replacement therapy, and offer you support every step of the way.
Public Health – Idaho North Central District also offers a cessation program for pregnant and post-partum moms who want to quit tobacco. Participants can earn up to 12 months of free diapers and wipes by completing tobacco cessation classes and testing nicotine-free.
Other individuals who want to quit tobacco and live with someone who is pregnant or recently had a baby may also be eligible for the program.

The Idaho QuitLine is a free telephone counseling service designed to help tobacco users quit. This confidential service connects tobacco users with trained counselors who guide and support them through the process of becoming tobacco-free.
Idaho residents can receive 8 weeks of FREE nicotine replacement therapy (gum, patch or lozenge) by calling the Idaho Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW or by visiting projectfilter.org
If you are a Washington resident, you may be eligible for 2 weeks of FREE nicotine replacement therapy (gum or patches) by calling the Washington Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. Washington residents with Apple Health qualify for 12 weeks of FREE nicotine replacement therapy (gum or patches) per year.

• Referral Program – The U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline, Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence 2008 Update recommends providers use the 5As method (Ask, Advise, Asses, Assist & Arrange Follow-Up) to help treat tobacco dependence. However, the 5As may be too time consuming for providers. Therefore, we recommend providers consider using the 2As & R method; Ask, Advise & Refer. • Cessation Materials – We are happy to provide your office with materials you can display or use to begin a conversation with your patient about quitting tobacco.
